Blog #5 - Why the Boxman Chooses His Life

In no way do I think the Boxman chose the life he has in the story. If the Boxman had the chance to be the CEO of a company, he wouldn't have passed up that chance. But the story is about "what is", not "what could have been". The Boxman came to the realization that being homeless and more importantly being alone would be his future. So unlike the old ladies, he embraces what his life is and thus he can be viewed as happy. So the Boxman didn't really chose a lifestyle, it was more of him choosing how he would live the life he would have.
